Watch closely, and see if you can spot the elusive Mustela putorius furo in its
native habitat.
(We're sorry but the cam is temporarily down. We are working on it. Feel free to enjoy the rest of the site.)

(You may see one of our many friendly felines playing for the camera.)

The Amazing Ferret Cam began about 18 years ago, back when web cams were virtually unheard of and digital cameras were really hard to find. The original stars were Ferrety, Blip, Pbob (pronounced "bob"), and Yoda. It was set up so that Roman could keep an eye on his animals and home via the internet from work, but it soon got so popular that he started a guestbook that was signed by hundreds of people per week towards the end (We took it down when we moved to the burbs around 10 years ago), and he was approached by a writer with the Washington Post who was writing an article about cameras on the web. (Click link above to read.)

Previous stars of the Amazing Ferret Cam:

Group shot from left to right: Pbob, Ferrety (aka: "Speeder"), and Blip

Ferrety (aka: "Speeder")

(1995-2001)

Ferrety was Roman's first experience with ferrets, and he liked her so much that he got 3 more! She was a tiny thing probably because she was so hyper, much more so than the others, and she loved to climb. There were many times when Roman found her on the top shelf of his closet - about 10 feet up!

Blip

(1997-2003)

Blip wasn't really a blip - she was short and fat and liked to climb into her sleeping bag, turn over, look up at me, and have me read her Snow White. She'd stay like that with her head stuck out from the covers looking up at me till her eyes closed and she fell into her deep ferret sleep.

Pbob

(1996-2004)

Pbob (pronounced "bob") was white and long and lithe. He loved to get into the shower and lick the skin off your nose. He eventually got sick, gained 6 lbs. as a result of the treatment for his disease, went bald, and passed away to ferret heaven - the sad fate of so many ferrets. (We miss him much, as we do all of them.)

Yoda

(1996-2004)

Yoda was the cutest ferret in the world. He was a big boy with a short, pug snout, who absolutely loved to repeatedly dive-bomb off the bed onto his stomach with his legs spread-eagle. We didn't get it, but I guess to him it was like riding a roller coaster to us.

Otie

We've had several other ferrets since, but the Amazing Ferret Cam is now the home of 1 ferret we call Otie.
